YEAR OF ACCLAIM

The Glasshouse Restaurant at the heart of Rowallan Castle estate in Ayrshire looks forward to a bustling New Year period after scooping the top gong at The Food Awards Scotland.

The ‘Best Fine Dining’ category is always one of the most hotly-contested, and recognises the estate’s investment into the world-class dining facility at Rowallan Castle. With a championship golf course and spectacular accommodation hosted within the venue’s castles that regularly welcome visitors from around the world, the quality of The Glasshouse has helped to further Rowallan’s appeal to golfers travelling to Ayrshire.

The golf course at Rowallan Castle has long been recognised as one of the strongest parkland layouts, in a region home to many of the biggest names in Scottish links golf. An increased investment in the Colin Montgomerie-designed layout has seen the playing surfaces recognised as some of the best in the west of Scotland, with the famed Par-3 19th hole acting as a tie-breaker for any matches that have gone the distance!

For 2023, Rowallan Castle is looking to strengthen its relationships with tour operators and enhance its international reputation; offering golfers the unique opportunity to stay in one of its historic on-site castles. Both The New and The Old Castles can be hired out in their entirety, with the site able to host 30 golfers across the two properties  - complete with private dining, entertainment, and of course, access to The Glasshouse Restaurant.

To assist with this universal recognition. Rowallan Castle have enlisted the support of IMG, and has become part of the IMG Prestige network; a reflection of the venue’s quality. The sports marketing company will assist Rowallan Castle with the creation of further assets to attract visiting golfers, as well as assisting with the running of both on and off course events held at the site.

One such event was an evening hosted for the players at the 2022 Women’s Scottish Open, held at the nearby Dundonald Links. An unforgettable dinner was hosted in The New Castle, with catering again provided by the team behind The Glasshouse.

Of the season, George Campbell, General Manager of The Rowallan Estate, said: “2022 has been a fantastic year for us all at Rowallan. Following the reopening of our restaurant and accommodation, we’ve seen unparalleled levels of demand, aided by the venue’s success at some of Scotland’s biggest awards ceremonies within the hospitality sector. Our work with IMG has created opportunities to mirror this success on our golf course, and helped to connect us more closely with both visiting golfers and professionals at the top of our sport. We’re looking forward to this continuing throughout 2023 and beyond!”.
