Clearwater Sanctuary uniquely conjures up memories of Malaysia's tin-mining years in its architecture, which has been specially planned and designed to preserve its natural surroundings. Between the end of 1998 to mid-1999, 2.4 hectares of weedy meadows were cleared to build the film-set for the filming of the epic of "Anna & the King". When completed, the film-set was a magnificent replica of the Siamese Court, resplendent in gilded polystyrene, fibreglass and plasterceil.
